A funded PhD position is available to work on community-led development of technology for under-resourced languages, focusing on Oceania languages. The 3-year position is part of the ARC DECRA project ‘Harnessing AI to Protect Endangered Languages’ with Katerina Vylomova as the primary supervisor.
- Research focus: Technology for languages of Oceania with a emphasis on co-design with local communities.
- Requirements: Technical competence in NLP, ability to propose novel research ideas, and connections to Oceania communities.
