PhD position in Business Analytics at TUM, focusing on sequential decision-making under uncertainty in healthcare operations
The Business Analytics Research Group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is inviting applications for a Research Associate/PhD Candidate position in the field of sequential decision-making under uncertainty, with a focus on healthcare operations and data-driven decision systems.
The successful candidate will conduct research and advance knowledge in this topic using methodologies from stochastic modelling and control, optimization, and data analytics. The position is available from September 2026 and is fixed for a term of 3 years, with the possibility of extension.
Key responsibilities include developing novel models for sequential decision-making under uncertainty, conducting theoretical analysis, designing and implementing efficient algorithms, and collaborating with interdisciplinary partners in healthcare and data science.
Applicants should have a master’s degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, with a solid background in dynamic programming, Markov decision processes, probability theory, stochastic modeling, optimization methods, and algorithm design.
