Rodolfo Delmonte, Retired Professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, passed away on March 12 at 79. A pioneer in computational linguistics, he developed tools for Italian and English language analysis.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodolfo Delmonte, Retired Professor at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, on March 12 at the age of 79.
Rodolfo Delmonte graduated in 1973 from the University of Venice in Foreign Languages and Literatures. He began his research career at the University of Melbourne, working on computational approaches to quantitative analysis of literary texts.
- Published part of his thesis in ‘Piercing into the Psyche: the Poetry of Francis Webb’
- Collaborated with the Department of Electronics at the University of Padua on speech synthesis
- Developed tools for automatic processing and analysis of Italian and English
A memorial service will be held on March 18, 2026, at 11:00 in the Sala Laica of the San Michele in Isola cemetery, Venice.
