ACL Rolling Review Discontinues MS Word Template

ACL Rolling Review discontinues MS Word template for conference submissions, citing high desk rejection rates and extra workload. LaTeX submissions will be preferred from March 2026.

The ACL Rolling Review (ARR) has announced the discontinuation of its MS Word template for conference submissions, effective March 2026.

Submissions using the Word template will be desk-rejected. The decision is based on the high number of desk rejections and the extra workload on editors and reviewers due to the different layout.

  • The ARR editors cited the availability of Overleaf’s WYSIWYG interface and the ACL template as alternatives.
  • The move aims to reduce the workload on reviewers and editors, and potentially shorten the paper checklist.
