Call for Papers: Evolving Self-organisation Workshop at GECCO 2025

Submit your research to the Evolving Self-organisation workshop at GECCO 2025, focusing on robust, adaptable, and efficient artificial systems.

The first workshop on Evolving Self-organisation at GECCO 2025 is now accepting submissions! The conference will take place in Málaga, Spain from July 14 to July 18, 2025, with options for in-person or remote participation.

Important Dates:

  • Submission Deadline: March 26, 2025
  • Acceptance Notification: April 25, 2025

Workshop Description:

Recent advances in AI have led to powerful systems, but they often lack robustness, generalisation, and efficiency. Biological systems, in contrast, exhibit these properties through self-organisation. This workshop explores how to evolve artificial systems that can self-organise, focusing on:

  • Robustness, adaptability, and generalisation
  • Comparing gradient-based and evolutionary optimisation
  • Designing new self-organising systems
  • Emergence of evolutionary processes
  • Benchmarks and environments for self-organising systems
  • Applications in various scientific and engineering domains

Submissions are invited through the GECCO submission system. We welcome two types of papers:

  • Early research ideas (up to 4 pages)
  • Substantial contributions (up to 8 pages)

Accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library. For more information, visit the workshop website.
