Join us for the upcoming CIRCE Online seminar featuring Prof. Rob Drummond from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. The seminar, titled Ten things everybody should know about (spoken) language, will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 16:30 CET.

Target Audience: Secondary school teachers, researchers, and language instructors

Prof. Drummond will share his top ten reflections and insights on the relationship between spoken language and identity, aiming to improve everyone’s relationship with their own and others’ use of English. The talk will emphasize the importance of appreciating language variation and change, and the fundamental connection between the way we speak and who we are.

Speaker Bio: Rob Drummond is a Professor of Sociolinguistics at Manchester Metropolitan University. He researches, teaches, and writes about the relationship between spoken language and identity. He has led the Manchester Voices project, exploring accents, dialects, and identities in Greater Manchester, and co-leads The Accentism project, which challenges language-based prejudice.
