MultiCardioNER: Clinical Named Entity Recognition in Cardiology with a Multilingual Approach
The MultiCardioNER shared task, organized by Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos, aims to adapt clinical named entity recognition (NER) systems to the specific domain of cardiology and multiple languages: English, Spanish, and Italian. This task focuses on the recognition of clinical entities related to diseases and medications in cardiology case reports, which is crucial for healthcare data analytics in this high-impact field. Participating teams will be evaluated based on micro-averaged Precision, Recall, and F-measure (MiF). The MultiCardioNER project includes the release of a training set, development set, and test set, along with annotation guidelines and gazetteer. The evaluation results and participant papers will be presented at the BioASQ workshop during CLEF 2024.
The MultiCardioNER organizers and collaborators include experts from Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos, and Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS. By focusing on the cardiology domain and multiple languages, the MultiCardioNER shared task aims to promote the development and adaptation of clinical NER systems to better serve the healthcare community and improve the overall quality of healthcare data.
