MWAHAHA at SemEval 2026: Call for Participation

Participate in MWAHAHA at SemEval 2026, a task focused on advancing computational humor generation through two subtasks: text-based humor and image-based caption generation.

MWAHAHA, SemEval 2026’s Task 1, challenges participants to develop systems that generate genuinely humorous content. The task is divided into two subtasks: Text-based Humor Generation and Image-Based Caption Generation.

  • Subtask A: Generate jokes based on constraints like news headlines or specific words in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
  • Subtask B: Create humorous captions for GIF images in English.

Systems will be evaluated through 1-on-1 arena-style battles based on human preferences. Join the CodaBench competition to participate.

Key dates include development data release on September 1, 2025, and the evaluation period from January 10 to January 31, 2026.
