PhyRC Challenge: A Robotic Caregiving Competition with Real Robot Prizes
The EmPRISE Lab is thrilled to announce the PhyRC Challenge, a competition designed to facilitate innovation in physical robotic caregiving. The competition includes two tracks: Track 1 – Fixed-based Manipulation for Robot-assisted Dressing, and Track 2 – Mobile Manipulation for Robot-assisted Bed Bathing. Each track has two phases: a Simulation Phase and a Real Robot Phase. The winning team of Track 1 will receive a Kinova Gen 3 7-DoF robot arm, while the winning team of Track 2 will receive a Hello Robot Stretch 3 robot. The competition aims to explore solutions to interesting rigid and deformable object manipulation and physical human-robot interaction problems in physical caregiving settings.
