University of Hong Kong – Max Planck PhD Studentship in Population Studies

Apply for a 4-year PhD Studentship in Population Studies at the University of Hong Kong and Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research.

A 4-year PhD position is available at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR). The position is jointly funded by the Faculty of Social Sciences/HKU Research Hub of Population Studies and the Department of Digital and Computational Demography at MPIDR.

Key aspects of the program include:

  • Registration as a full-time PhD student at HKU and enrollment in the International Max Planck Research School for Population, Health, and Data Science.
  • Co-supervision by academics from both institutions.
  • Spending the first 18 months at HKU, followed by 2 years at MPIDR in Germany, and the final 6 months back at HKU.
