We are excited to announce an opening for a post-doctoral position at the IRIT in Toulouse, France, as part of the European CHIST-ERA GeoR2LLM project. The project focuses on building geographic Large Language Models (LLMs) for next-generation Artificial Intelligence-supported geographic information systems. The position is for 18 months, with the possibility of extension based on outcomes.

The successful candidate will work on decoupling geographical knowledge from language memorization in LLMs. The aim is to empower LLM parametric knowledge with geographic knowledge about the geometry of structures, core spatial concepts, operations, and relations, which native LLMs are not inherently endowed with. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to state-of-the-art research in Large Language Models and geographic information systems.
