CAD2: A Challenge to Improve Music for Those with Hearing Loss

The Second Cadenza Signal Processing Challenge (CAD2) is now open for submissions. CAD2 is part of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Challenge Program and offers cash prizes for the best entrants. The challenge is designed to improve music for those with hearing loss, an issue affecting 430 million people worldwide. The challenge consists of two tasks: improving the intelligibility of lyrics in pop/rock music and rebalancing the level of instruments in classical music ensembles. Participants are encouraged to use machine learning-based demix/remix approaches to achieve the aims of the challenge. Tools, metrics, and baselines will be provided. Submission deadline is in January 2025.
