Code-Mixed Language Identification in Dravidian Languages: CoLI-Dravidian@FIRE 2024 Shared Task

We are excited to announce the CoLI-Dravidian@FIRE 2024 shared task on Word-level Code-Mixed Language Identification in Dravidian Languages. The shared task is part of the 16th meeting of Forum for Information Retrieval Evaluation (FIRE 2024) and will be held in Gandhinagar, India from December 12-15, 2024.

The shared task aims to address the challenges of language identification (LI) in code-mixed text, particularly at the word level, in four Dravidian languages – Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Tulu. The task will encourage the development of advanced LI models for under-resourced languages with rich morphological structures.

Participants will be allowed to make a maximum of 10 submissions in the training phase and 5 submissions in the testing phase. The submissions will be evaluated on a real-time leaderboard. The final ranking will be based on the best submission of each team.
