Contribute to Shaping the Future of Information Retrieval for Climate Impact
Call for Ideas — SIGIR 2024 Workshop on Pioneering Information Retrieval for Climate Change
Climate change is a pressing global issue that necessitates effective access to the expanding body of research on climate impact. In this context, the SIGIR 2024 workshop invites you to contribute technical ideas and position papers on information retrieval for climate impact, with a focus on creating a research agenda in this area.
The workshop will be organized around four key areas: (i) Information needs in climate impact; (ii) Search and analysis of formal literature for climate impact; (iii) Search and analysis of informal publications for climate impact; and (iv) Resources to support IR for climate impact. Participants will collaborate to generate actionable technical research agendas for each area.
We welcome contributions on a wide range of topics related to information retrieval for climate impact, such as large-scale systematic reviews, climate language models, geolocated literature with climate information, and evidence synthesis. Be sure to emphasize how your ideas contribute to IR for climate impact and the ambition to create a research agenda on this topic.
