Doctoral Position in Language Modeling: Join a Renowned Research Group

The research group is actively researching language models, with recent achievements such as a best paper award at COLING 2022 and a best theme paper award at ACL 2023. Join us to deepen your understanding of language models and their applications. Possible topics include language modeling for speech recognition, language models for chemicals and proteins, and deep learning for highly non-linear dynamical systems.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in language models, machine learning, and deep learning, as well as excellent programming skills. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field is required. Successful experiences working both independently and as part of a small team are essential.

The position offers a salary of 75% of full time on the German E13 scale (TV-L), which is approximately 3144€ per month before tax and social security contributions. The appointment is for three years, with a possible extension for a fourth year at 50%. The department of Language Science and Technology is one of the leading departments in the speech and language area in Europe, with seven faculty members and around 50 postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
