Exploring the Future of Robotics: RSS 2024 Workshop on Semantic Reasoning and Goal Understanding

We are thrilled to invite you to the 1st Workshop on Semantic Reasoning and Goal Understanding in Robotics (SemRob), taking place at the 20th Robotics Science and Systems conference (RSS 2024) in Delft, Netherlands, on July 19, 2024. This workshop aims to facilitate interdisciplinary research on methods that can help deploy semantics-aware and generalizable embodied agents in real-world environments.

SemRob will focus on hybrid methodologies that combine robotics foundation models with various modeling mechanisms, such as neural memory mechanisms, cognitive architectures, neuro-symbolic representations, meta-cognitive reasoning structures, robot skill primitives, and 3D world representations. Our goal is to bring together robotics researchers, engineers, and practitioners from different communities to discuss and share their insights on these topics.

We invite paper submissions on various topics, including learning semantically-rich and generalizable robot state representations, reasoning mechanisms for generalization in open-vocabulary contexts, and leveraging foundation models for robotics tasks, among others. The paper submission deadline is June 3, 2024, and the workshop will be using the official LaTeX or Word templates provided by RSS 2024.

Confirmed invited speakers for SemRob include Niko Sünderhauf, Coline Devin, Animesh Garg, Alessandra Sciutti, Joyce Chai, Jesse Thomason, Dongheui Lee, and Yonatan Bisk. The organizing committee includes Jonathan Francis, Andrew Melnik, Krishan Rana, Saumya Saxena, Hyemin Ahn, Qiang Li, and Jean Oh.

Join us in this exciting exploration of the future of robotics and contribute to compelling discussions on semantic reasoning and goal understanding. Stay updated on all workshop information by joining our mailing list at https://mailchi.mp/07f8ab4c1c65/semrob-workshop.
