Extended Submission Deadline: Workshop on Studying the Language of Young Learners
Extended submission deadline for workshop on Studying the Language of Young Learners, focusing on empirical research and interpretation in learner corpus research and second language acquisition.
Due to multiple requests, the submission deadline for the workshop ‘Studying the Language of Young Learners’ has been extended to 20 April 2025.
The workshop, organized by Anna Rosen, Robert Fuchs, and Valentin Werner, will take place at the University of Bamberg, Germany, on 17-18 September 2025. It aims to bring together researchers who engage with young learner (inter-)language to share insights from their current projects.
Key topics of interest include:
- Analyzing and interpreting patterns found in young learner (inter-)language
- Illustrating (young) learner trajectories
- Comparing and contrasting data from L1 and L2 learners
- Working with innovative tasks for data elicitation
- Triangulating approaches (e.g., corpus-based and experimental or questionnaire-based ones)
The workshop will feature two keynotes by Shin’ichiro Ishikawa and Olga Lopopolo, as well as a collaborative breakout session on future challenges and trends in research on young learners.
Submissions should focus primarily on empirical results and their interpretation. Emerging researchers are encouraged to submit, and a best paper prize will be awarded among eligible participants.
Please submit your abstracts (400-500 words + potentially a data table or figure for illustration + references; APA style) before 20 April 2025 at https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/SLYL/. You will receive feedback on acceptance in May 2025.
