Fully Funded PhD in XAI for GNNs at GREYC Lab, France

Fully funded PhD position in Explainable AI for Graph Neural Networks at GREYC Lab, Université de Caen Normandie, France, starting autumn 2025.

A fully funded PhD position is available at GREYC laboratory, CNRS UMR 6072, Université de Caen Normandie, France, focusing on ‘Explainable AI for Graph Data Augmentation in Machine Learning’.

The thesis is part of the Pandora project, funded by the French ANR, aiming to improve Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) by explaining their internal workings and generating additional data to enhance their performance and reliability.

  • Characterize and understand GNNs using pattern extraction techniques.
  • Identify statistically significant patterns of neural activation.
  • Translate activation rules into interpretable graph patterns.
  • Improve GNNs by detecting learning biases and generating additional data.

The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics, with programming skills and experience in data science and deep learning.

To apply, send your application documents to bruno.cremilleux@unicaen.fr, marc.plantevit@epita.fr, and albrecht.zimmermann@unicaen.fr.
