The Department of Interpreting and Translation at Università di Bologna is offering a fully-funded three-year PhD grant in ‘Translation, Interpreting, and Intercultural Studies’ starting November 2025.
The PhD project focuses on measuring local cultural knowledge in Large Language Models (LLMs), assessing English influence on LLM-produced texts, and developing strategies to enhance multicultural data incorporation.
- Measuring local cultural knowledge in LLMs across multiple languages.
- Evaluating English influence on LLM-generated texts in machine translation and text generation.
- Designing strategies to produce high-quality multicultural data for LLMs.
Candidates with backgrounds in NLP, digital humanities, or translation/linguistics are encouraged to apply by July 1st, 2025.
