Two fully-funded PhD positions available at USI’s CCL group in Lugano, Switzerland, focusing on NLP and related research areas.

The Computation, Cognition, and Language group at USI Università della Svizzera italiana is offering two fully-funded, four-year PhD positions. The ideal start date is Sept/Oct 2025, with applications accepted until June 15 or until filled.

Research areas include:

• NLP for cognitive modelling, such as creative thinking and argumentation
• Diachronic language study using computational models
• NLP for mental health
• Multilingual NLP, including low-resource languages
• Foundations of Large Language Models
