ICPR 2024: Fairness in Biometric Systems Workshop

The International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR) 2024 will host the 2nd Workshop on Fairness in Biometric Systems. Biometric systems are widely used and increasingly influence critical decision-making processes, including finance, public security, and forensics. However, these systems often perform differently for various groups of individuals, leading to discriminatory and unfair treatment. Political regulations, such as Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 71 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), emphasize the importance of non-discrimination. Therefore, analyzing and mitigating fairness concerns in biometric systems is essential.

The workshop aims to develop and analyze biometric datasets, propose equability metrics, investigate demographic and non-demographic factors, and mitigate fairness concerns in various biometric applications. Important dates include the workshop on December 01, 2024, with full paper submission due on August 12, 2024.
