The successful candidate will lead the department in offering B.S degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer and Information Systems, as well as Masters’s programs in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. The Chairperson will play a critical role in advancing knowledge, resolving complex issues, and empowering the university’s communities. The responsibilities include maintaining teaching scholarship, managing the department budget, enhancing student success, supporting faculty excellence, engaging in strategic planning, providing vision and leadership, advocating for the department, guiding curriculum development, and overseeing ABET accreditation experience and submission.
The minimum qualifications for this position include an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer, and Information Systems, or a closely related discipline. The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of distinguished teaching, research, and scholarly work appropriate to qualify for appointment as a tenured faculty member at the rank of associate professor or full professor. The candidate must also have a record of excellence in management, decision-making, problem-solving, consensus building, and collaborating with others in building synergistic partnerships. Evidence of support for student achievement and student success, a record of commitment to maintaining standards of excellence, academic freedom, and supporting faculty scholarship and student learning and research, and a history of demonstrated excellent communication skills are also required.
