Join Harvard Medical School as a Postdoc in Systems Biology: Develop AI for Cancer Risk Prediction, Computational Cell Biology, and Protein Design

The Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School invites applications for a postdoctoral position. The successful candidate will join the lab of Chris Sander and Debora Marks to work on AI for cancer risk prediction, computational cell biology, and protein design. The lab is located in the Armenise Building in Boston and collaborates with research groups in the Boston area, including the Ludwig Center, Mass General Hospital, and the Broad Institute, as well as researchers in the US, Canada, Denmark, Germany, China, and the UK.

The postdoc will have the opportunity to develop and apply machine learning and statistical physics methods to address challenging problems in human disease and synthetic biology. The lab focuses on three main areas:

  • Cancer Risk Prediction: Use machine learning to identify patients at high risk for aggressive cancers for prevention, early detection, and early-stage treatment.
  • Perturbation Biology: Develop computational models of cell biology from large-scale experiments to guide therapeutic developments and cell biological experiments.
  • Protein Function and Design: Predict protein function from sequences, design novel proteins for environmental or therapeutic purposes, and collaborate on engineering beneficial gene and protein modules.

To apply, please send a CV, bibliography, statement of research interest (~1 page), and names of three references to sander.research@gmail.com.
