Join the Bayesian Neural Networks Project in Poland
We are seeking Ph.D. students and final-year postgrads in computer science or mathematics to contribute to the advancement of Bayesian Neural Networks. If you are passionate about this field and want to make a difference, visit our website at bayes.net.pl and email us at t.kusmierczyk at uj.edu.pl!
We offer scholarships for students and doctoral candidates in Poland, with a scholarship amount of up to PLN 5000 (approximately EUR 1250), raising the total doctoral student remuneration to PLN 8460 (approximately EUR 2000). This is an attractive offer given the affordable living costs in Poland. (Learn more about the cost of living in Poland)
As a successful candidate, you will work on a project funded by the National Science Center titled Balancing Priors and Learning Biases to Improve Bayesian Neural Networks, focusing on learning and priors for Bayesian Neural Networks. Key topics include uncertainty quantification, priors and posteriors, amortized and boosted posterior models, and deep networks architectures.
Requirements for the role include basic programming skills (Python and PyTorch/TensorFlow/JAX), knowledge of modern machine learning techniques, fluency in English, and knowledge of modern probabilistic methods and applied statistics is a plus.
The recruitment process for new doctoral candidates consists of two stages: first, contact the Principal Investigator (PI) at t.kusmierczyk at uj.edu.pl, and second, apply to the doctoral school at the Jagiellonian University. The registration deadline is June 17, 2024 (Technical CS recruitment schedule) or alternatively June 23, 2024 (CS recruitment schedule).
To apply, please attach your CV/Resume, motivation or cover letter explaining how you can contribute to the project, and any relevant links or materials demonstrating your skills and knowledge.
