Machine Learning in Earth Observation: A Workshop Perspective
The MACLEAN workshop, set to take place in September 2024, offers a platform for machine learning researchers and domain experts to interact and exchange ideas on the analysis and exploitation of Earth Observation (EO) data. With the ever-increasing amount of data produced by EO missions, modern machine learning techniques can play a pivotal role in dealing with heterogeneous, multi-scale, and multi-modal data. The workshop aims to provide an overview of current machine learning research in the EO domain and stimulate discussions on new machine learning frameworks tailored for EO data.
Topics of interest include supervised and unsupervised classification of EO data, deep learning approaches, machine learning for multi-scale and multi-source EO data, semi-supervised and active learning, interpretability and explainability, dimensionality reduction, and more. Invited speakers include Matthieu Molinier from VTT, Finland, and Giuseppina Andresini & Annalisa Appice from Università di Bari, Italy. Contributions can be in the form of short position papers or full research papers and must be written in LNCS format. The submission deadline is June 15, 2024.
