MultiCardioNER: A Clinical Named Entity Recognition Adaptation Shared Task for Cardiology
The MultiCardioNER shared task, organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos, invites participants to adapt clinical named entity recognition (NER) systems to specific high impact clinical application domains, focusing on cardiovascular diseases and multiple languages. This task will release a training, development, and test set of cardiology case reports in Spanish, English, and Italian, along with annotation guidelines and a gazetteer. The evaluation will be based on micro-averaged Precision, Recall, and F-measure (MiF). The schedule includes the release of training and development sets on April 9th, 2024, and the participant test predictions deadline on May 15th, 2024. The results will be released on May 19th, 2024, and the submission of participant papers deadline is on May 31st, 2024. Selected teams will present their approaches at the BioASQ workshop at the CLEF 2024 conference in September 9th-12th, 2024.
The MultiCardioNER task aims to promote the development and adaptation of clinical entity recognition systems for multiple languages and specific medical specialties, focusing on the cardiology domain. Participating teams will contribute a short systems description paper for the CLEF 2024 proceedings. The organizers and collaborators include researchers from Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos, and Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, as well as researchers from University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
