MultiCardioNER: A Multi-language Clinical Named Entity Recognition Challenge for Cardiology

The MultiCardioNER challenge is a shared task on Clinical Named Entity Recognition (NER) adaptation, focusing on cardiovascular diseases and multilingual data. The task includes two sub-tracks: CardioDis, a Spanish adaptation of disease recognition systems to the cardiology domain, and MultiDrug, a multilingual (Spanish, English, and Italian) adaptation of medication recognition systems to the cardiology domain. The challenge offers a training dataset of 1000 general clinical case reports in Spanish, a development set of 250 cardiology cases, and a test set of 250 cardiology case reports. Participants will be evaluated based on micro-averaged Precision, Recall, and F-measure. The deadline for participant test predictions is May 15th, 2024, and the evaluation results will be released on May 19th, 2024. Participating teams are invited to contribute a short systems description paper for the CLEF 2024 proceedings and to give a short presentation of their approach at the BioASQ workshop at the CLEF 2024 conference.
