New PhD Position in the Project ‘SAELING’ at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria
The University of Klagenfurt, Austria is pleased to announce a PhD position in the research project ‘SAving Energy by Learning and Improving logic-based optimization models (SAELING)’. The project aims to use machine learning methods to generate prediction models for scheduling in multi-objective optimization problems to find energy- and resource-saving strategies for the industrial use case of metal processing. The project is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency in the focus area ‘Artificial Intelligence for Green’ and is closely connected to the Austrian cluster of excellence ‘Bilateral Artificial Intelligence’.
The successful candidate will join the research team at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, working on the integration of sub-symbolic and symbolic methods of artificial intelligence. The candidate will be expected to pursue a PhD within the thematic doctoral program Informatics at the University of Klagenfurt and contribute to organizational and administrative tasks, as well as participate in public relations activities.
Requirements for the position include a Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, a background in symbolic artificial intelligence, solid communication and dissemination skills, and fluency in English. Desired skills include the ability to work in a diverse team, programming skills, experience with answer set or constraint programming tools, and knowledge of deep learning frameworks.
