New Workshop Announcement: SemRob 2024 – Bridging the Gap between Semantics and Robotics

Join us at the 1st Workshop on Semantic Reasoning and Goal Understanding in Robotics (SemRob 2024), taking place at RSS 2024 in Delft, Netherlands on July 19, 2024. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from various sub-communities, including robot learning, embodied AI, planning and controls, cognitive robotics, neuro-symbolism, natural language processing, computer vision, and multimodal machine learning. Our goal is to discuss and explore new hybrid methodologies that combine representations from robotics foundation models with modeling mechanisms for semantic reasoning and abstract goal understanding.

We welcome submissions on various topics, including learning semantically-rich and generalizable robot state representations, reasoning mechanisms for generalization in open-vocabulary contexts, grounding foundation models with other modalities, and combining foundation models with AI reasoning structures. Submissions should be 4+N or 8+N pages in length, and we will use the official RSS 2024 LaTeX or Word templates. The paper submission deadline is June 3, 2024, and author notifications will be announced on June 24, 2024.

Keynote speakers for the workshop include Niko Sünderhauf from Queensland University of Technology, Coline Devin from Google DeepMind, Alessandra Sciutti from Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Joyce Chai from the University of Michigan, Jesse Thomason from the University of Southern California, Dongheui Lee from Technische Universität Wien, Yonatan Bisk from Carnegie Mellon University + Meta AI, and Andrew Melnik from the University of Bielefeld.
