NYU Postdoc Position: Advancing LLMs with Cognitive Science

NYU is recruiting a postdoc to develop human-like language models, exploring architectural modifications and interpretability, with a focus on cognitive science and AI research.

A postdoctoral position is available at New York University’s Center for Data Science to develop language models that process language more like humans. The project involves exploring architectural modifications, training data interventions, and steering through interpretability.

Key aspects of the project include:

• Constraining LLMs to improve their cognitive modeling capabilities
• Benchmarking models against human behavioral and neural data
• Fundamental modeling and interpretability work

Applicants should have a strong computational research background and be interested in AI for science and cognitive science. The position is expected to last four years with annual renewals and has no teaching requirements.
