PhD Position in Cologne: Investigating the Role of Gender in Prominence Hierarchies

We are excited to announce a PhD position in the project "The role of gender in prominence hierarchies: A cross-linguistic and cross-register perspective" at the University of Cologne. The project aims to investigate the relationship between grammatical and social gender hierarchies and linguistic prominence hierarchies in English, French, and German. The successful candidate will collect and pre-process corpus data, perform linguistic annotation, design and conduct corpus studies, analyze results, and collaborate with project leaders. The application deadline is 17 January 2025 and the start date is 1 April 2025.
