PhD Positions in AI for Robot Navigation and Perception

Two PhD positions available in AI for robot navigation and perception at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Candidates with a background in computer science and robotics are encouraged to apply.

The Robot Learning Lab at the University of Freiburg, Germany, is offering two full-time PhD positions in AI for robot navigation and perception. The lab, headed by Prof. Abhinav Valada, is part of the ELLIS Unit Freiburg and is equipped with state-of-the-art computing resources and various robots.

Candidates should have a Master’s degree in computer science, robotics, or a related field, and strong programming skills, including experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.

  • For the PhD position in AI for Perception and SLAM, prior research experience in areas like scene graphs, SLAM, or foundation models is required.
  • For the PhD position in AI for Robot Navigation, experience in planning and reasoning, reinforcement learning, or foundation models is necessary.
