PhD Student Contract in Natural Language Processing – Automatic Generation of Explanations for Multiword Expressions

The University of Lorraine, Nancy, France is offering a PhD student contract in Natural Language Processing. The successful candidate will join the ATILF research unit and work on the STAR-FLE project, which focuses on computer-assisted language teaching and aims to facilitate text comprehension for learners of French as a foreign language. The thesis will focus on the automatic generation of explanations for multiword expressions, which can pose problems for learners due to their non-compositionality. The candidate should have a Master’s degree in computational linguistics, natural language processing, computer science or cognitive science, and should have strong programming skills and knowledge of recent models of natural language processing.
