PhD Studentship in AI and Psychology at Plymouth University: Delivering Functional Imagery Training via Generative AI to Improve Mental Health Care
We are excited to announce a fully-funded PhD studentship opportunity at Plymouth University, UK, focusing on the intersection of AI, psychology, and human-robot interaction. The project, titled Delivering Functional Imagery Training via Generative AI To Improve Access to Effective Psychological Interventions for Health, aims to develop datasets and software for delivering Functional Imagery Training (FIT) via mobile devices and embodied agents (robots).
As a person-centered intervention, FIT requires tailored responses to individual clients’ content, guiding mental imagery exercises based on that personal content. By building an interdisciplinary team of psychologists and machine learning experts, this project will deliver real-world impact with broad implications for mental healthcare.
The deadline for applications is the 29th of May 2024 (midnight, UK time). The difference in tuition fees between national and international students will be waived for excellent international candidates.
Join our team and contribute to shaping the future of mental health care, where AI models like ChatGPT fundamentally change the landscape for the automated delivery of psychological interventions.
