The Robotics Department in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on Human-Robot Interaction applied to the Arts, a project funded by DARPA. The successful candidate will work with Professor Patricia Alves-Oliveira in the Robot Studio, her research lab at the University of Michigan. This project is closely related to the main theme of the lab, which concerns the topic of human-robot interaction. The fellow will be expected to independently produce results on their project, publish high-quality engineering journals, travel to national and international conferences, and be an active part of the lab culture.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Robotics or a related field, experience with ROS, implementation in real-time embedded systems, programming in languages such as Python, C/C++, and experience with Linux-based microcomputers, machine learning theory and implementation in real-time Python, and human subject testing, and the development of IRB protocols.
The salary for this position is $64,000.00 – $69,000.00 and the contract is full-time, fixed-term for 12 months with the possibility to extend based on mutual satisfaction and agreement.
