Research Engineer and PhD Positions at Australian National University

The Australian National University is offering a PhD and a Research Engineer position in Robotics, focusing on sequential decision-making under uncertainty. Both positions are available with competitive funding and remuneration.

The Robotics group at the Australian National University (ANU) School of Computing is opening a PhD and a Research Engineer position to work on research projects in sequential decision-making under uncertainty in robotics.

PhD Position: Fully funded with a stipend of A$40,000 pa (tax free) for 3.5 years. Desirable background includes a Bachelor’s degree with first class honours or equivalent in Robotics / Computer Science / Aerospace & Aeronautics Engineering.

  • Good programming skills
  • Undergraduate research experience in Planning under Uncertainty, Motion/Task/Task-Motion Planning, Multi Robot Planning, Integrated Planning and Learning, or Reinforcement Learning
  • Experience with ROS, Gazebo, and physical robot experiments

Research Engineer Position: Initially for 1 year, with a potential for extension. Remuneration range per annum is (A$75,492 — A$83,351) + superannuation. Suitable for recent Bachelor/Master graduates.

  • A Bachelor’s degree with first class honours or equivalent in Robotics / Computer Science / Aerospace & Aeronautics Engineering
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 and Gazebo
  • Experience with physical robot experiments
