Sixth Workshop on Teaching NLP – Second Call For Papers

The Sixth Workshop on Teaching NLP will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on August 15, 2024, in conjunction with the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics. The deadline for paper submissions has been extended to May 19th, 2024 AOE. The workshop aims to bring together the communities of NLP research and education to facilitate active discussion on questions related to NLP education, including how to facilitate meaningful conversations about language among Computer Science students, how to include user-centered design in core NLP curricula, and how to design assignments that require GPU access or the use of paid APIs.

The workshop invites two types of submissions: teaching materials and papers. Teaching materials submissions should describe curricula, course GitHub repositories, Jupyter notebooks, slides, homework, and assignments. These submissions should not be anonymized and will be peer-reviewed and published in workshop proceedings. Papers should focus on pedagogical aspects of NLP and can discuss topics such as tools and methodologies, scaling curricula to fit large class sizes, and teaching underrepresented students. All submissions will be processed through OpenReview.

Important dates: Paper Submission: May 19, 2024 AOE [Extended], Notification of Acceptance: June 17, 2024, Camera-Ready Deadline: July 1, 2024, Teaching NLP Workshop: August 15, 2024. For more information, visit the workshop website or contact the organizers at teachingnlp.yt at gmail.com.
