Special Issue on GeoFM: Foundation Models for Geospatial Artificial Intelligence

The International Journal of Geographical Information Science (IJGIS) has announced a call for papers for a special issue on GeoFM: Foundation Models for Geospatial Artificial Intelligence. The deadline for manuscript submission is July 1st, 2024. The special issue aims to bring together the latest research on applying, testing, modifying, and developing foundation models for geospatial tasks that involve heterogeneous, multimodal data, and produce more accurate and unbiased predictions or generations.

Relevant topics include benchmarking the effectiveness of foundation models on geospatial applications, novel prompt engineering methods for geo-foundation models, zero-shot and few-shot learning with geo-foundation models, fine-tuning foundation models on geospatial tasks, development of (multimodal) foundation models for GeoAI applications, societal impacts, risks, and biases of foundation models for geospatial problems, and efforts in gathering and curating large-scale geospatial datasets for training/finetuning/evaluating foundation models.

For more information and to submit a manuscript, please visit the CFP website at IJGIS.
