Special Session on Explainable Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare at FUZZ-IEEE2025

Explore the latest developments and challenges in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods in healthcare at the FUZZ-IEEE2025 conference. Learn from experts from the University of Bari, Poland Academy of Sciences, and Eindhoven University of Technology.

This special session at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems aims to create an international forum specifically focusing on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods in the healthcare domain. The session will gather experts, industry professionals, and international authorities to assess, develop, and deploy XAI techniques in the healthcare domain. The session will cover two main approaches: post-hoc techniques applied after model training and ante-hoc approaches that integrate explainability from the outset. The goal is to increase trust in using these models, especially in the medical field. Transparent AI models with explanations are essential to boost users’ understanding and trust. The session will also discuss the challenges and solutions for interpretability and explainability in CNN networks and neural signals for interpretability.

The special session is organized by Gabriella Casalino from the University of Bari, Italy, Katarzyna Kaczmarek from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland, Uzay Kaymak from Eindhoven University of Technology, and Gianluca Zaza from the University of Bari, Italy.
