StepUP Biometric Footstep Challenge: Participate in IJCB 2025

Participate in the StepUP Biometric Footstep Challenge, developing verification models for biometric footstep recognition, with applications in security and healthcare.

Calling all researchers in human movement, computer vision, deep learning, domain generalization, and video classification!

Join the First International StepUP Competition for Biometric Footstep Recognition, hosted as part of the IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2025) in Osaka, Japan.

Develop verification models using a database of over 200,000 high-resolution recordings of underfoot pressures during walking, tackling two key challenges: generalizing to new users with limited reference samples, and generalizing to unseen conditions, including different footwear and walking speeds.

  • Competition ends: June 9th, 2025
  • Top teams will be invited to co-author a summary paper for IJCB 2025
  • Download the starter kit and submit your solutions to a live leaderboard on the competition webpage

Organized by Robyn Larracy, Aaron Tabor, Eve MacDonald, Angkoon Phinyomark, and Erik Scheme from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of New Brunswick, Canada.
