Writing Aids at the Crossroads of AI, Cognitive Science, and NLP: A Workshop at COLING 2025

The first call for papers has been announced for the workshop WR•AI•CogS•1, co-located with COLING 2025 in Abu Dhabi. The workshop aims to develop writing aids grounded in human cognition and enhance productivity by leveraging computer technology. The deadline for paper submissions is November 25, 2024. The workshop focuses on the cognitive and engineering aspects of interactive writing and welcomes contributions on all topics related to writing aids. Keynote speaker for the workshop is Cerstin Mahlow, Professor of Digital Linguistics and Writing Research at ZHAW School of Applied Linguistics, Winterthur, Switzerland.

The motivation behind the workshop is to help people learn to write, speed up the process, gain better control, and reduce stress and cognitive load. The workshop aims to go beyond merely identifying errors or mistakes made at the very end of the writing process and evaluate the quality of the choices made at higher levels.
