Participate in HIPE 2026 shared task to extract person-place relations from historical texts. Registration open until 23 April 2026.

The HIPE 2026 shared task invites participation in the extraction of personโ€“place relations in multilingual historical documents. The task aims to build systems capable of determining whether a relation holds between a person and a location mentioned in a document and classify its temporal scope.

Key aspects of the task include:

  • Determining whether a person is at a location within a document’s temporal horizon (isAt relation)
  • Determining if a person was at a location at some earlier moment in their life (At relation)
  • Classifying personโ€“location relations with varying degrees of certainty

The task features two evaluation profiles: Accuracy Profile and Efficiency Profile. Data will be provided in English, German, French, and Luxembourgish.
