Ninth Universal Dependencies Workshop: Call for Papers

The Ninth Universal Dependencies Workshop (UDW 2026) invites papers on topics related to UD, with a priority on cross-lingual perspectives. Submissions are open until February 16, 2026.

The Ninth Workshop on Universal Dependencies (UDW 2026) is scheduled for May 2026 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, co-located with LREC 2026. The Universal Dependencies framework has been applied to over 180 languages, aiming to capture similarities and differences among typologically different languages.

We invite papers on topics including theoretical foundations, linguistic analysis, language typology, treebank annotation, and the use of UD data for evaluating language models. Priority will be given to papers adopting a cross-lingual perspective.

  • Theoretical foundations and universal guidelines
  • Linguistic analysis of specific languages and/or constructions
  • Treebank annotation, conversion, and validation
  • Use of UD data for evaluating or understanding language models

Submissions are accepted in two formats: regular papers up to 8 pages and short papers up to 4 pages, both excluding references and appendices. Papers should be submitted via the START Conference Manager, following the two-column LREC style guidelines.

Important dates: Paper submission deadline is February 16, 2026; Notification of acceptance is March 16, 2026; Camera-ready version is due March 30, 2026.
