OIST Visiting Program Open Calls for FY2026 and FY2027
OIST invites researchers worldwide to apply for Visiting Programs in FY2026 and FY2027, offering travel support, housing, and research resources.
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) is now accepting applications for its Visiting Programs in FY2026 and FY2027. OIST is a department-free university that brings together students and faculty from around the world to collaborate across disciplines.
Researchers from all fields are invited to apply for opportunities to spend several months on a subtropical island in southern Japan, focusing solely on their research. The Visiting Programs offer:
- Travel and visa support
- On-campus housing
- Office space
- Access to OIST computing resources
Open calls include:
- Thematic Programs in FY2027: Pre-proposals due by September 15, 2025
- Visiting Scholars in FY2026: Deadline September 15, 2025
- Experimental Visiting Scholars in FY2026: For those requiring lab access
- Domestic Visitors in FY2025: Rolling deadline
