The International Conference on Multimodal Interaction (ICMI) 2026 is calling for proposals for Multimodal Grand Challenges and Workshops. The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 16, 2026.
The conference aims to inspire new ideas in the ICMI community and create momentum for future collaborative work. Proposals are invited for Grand Challenges in categories such as Data Challenges, Algorithm Challenges, Application Challenges, and Multidisciplinary Challenges.
- DATA CHALLENGES: gathering new experimental data and theories
- ALGORITHM CHALLENGES: developing algorithms and models for human-level automaton intelligence
- APPLICATION CHALLENGES: implementing HCI systems for societal benefits
- MULTIDISCIPLINARY CHALLENGES: promoting multidisciplinary exchanges and educational initiatives
Prospective organizers should submit a five-page maximum proposal containing details such as title, abstract, topics, goals, and evaluation plan. Proposals should be emailed to Sebastian Zepf and Alessandro Vinciarelli.
The call for workshops is also open until January 16, 2026, with a focus on emerging research areas and multi-disciplinary research.
