PhD and Postdoc Positions in Human-Centric Explainable NLU

The University of Copenhagen offers PhD and postdoc positions in Human-Centric Explainable NLU, focusing on human-centered explainable retrieval-augmented LLMs.

The Natural Language Understanding Research group at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD and postdoc position each on ‘Human-Centered Explainable Retrieval-Augmented LLMs’.

The PhD position is fully funded for three years and open to candidates with a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.

• Research focus: explanation steering for human-centric RAG.
• Supervisors: Isabelle Augenstein and Irina Shklovski.
• Application deadline: 1 February 2026.
• Expected start date: 1 September 2026.

The postdoc position is also for three years and open to candidates with a PhD degree in Computer Science or another relevant field.

• Research focus: user-centric RAG and information needs of people interacting with AI.
• Supervisors: Irina Shklovski and Isabelle Augenstein.
