Apply for a funded Postdoc position in Machine Learning Theory at IISc Bangalore, focusing on optimization and theoretical ML, with a duration of 1-2 years.
A highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher is sought to join the Department of Computer Science & Automation at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), led by Anant Raj. The group focuses on foundational questions in machine learning theory and optimization.
Research areas include:
- Optimization theory (SGD, GD, overparameterized networks)
- Sampling from arbitrary distributions and large-deviation methods
- Robustness and dynamics of modern ML systems
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in CS, Mathematics, Statistics, EE, or related fields
- Strong theoretical foundation in optimization or machine learning theory
- Evidence of strong research capability (publications at top conferences or journals)
To apply, send a CV, research statement, and two representative publications to anantraj@iisc.ac.in. For more information, visit Anant Raj’s homepage and Google Scholar.
