Funded Postdoc Position in Machine Learning Theory

A highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher is sought to join the Department of Computer Science & Automation at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), led by Anant Raj. The group focuses on foundational questions in machine learning theory and optimization.

Research areas include:

  • Optimization theory (SGD, GD, overparameterized networks)
  • Sampling from arbitrary distributions and large-deviation methods
  • Robustness and dynamics of modern ML systems

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in CS, Mathematics, Statistics, EE, or related fields
  • Strong theoretical foundation in optimization or machine learning theory
  • Evidence of strong research capability (publications at top conferences or journals)
